My Favorite Haunts: Club 33
It’s been a while since I’ve spotlighted one of My Favorite Haunts in the parks. Today, therefore, I’d like to share with you a place that few humans ever get to go. Cats can frequent it whenever we want, however.
Club 33
The super exclusive Club 33 in New Orleans Square costs humans a small fortune to join in addition to tens of thousands of dollars in annual dues. As a cat, however, I can just scurry along past people’s feet whenever they open a door and find myself in its lobby or grand salon. One of my favorite parts of spending an afternoon in this restaurant is just how quiet it is. I almost forget that I’m within the busy theme park, and I can be left alone.
Of course, another advantage of lurking around the Club is the fact that the members and their guests order some pretty decadent food. Also, since they imbibe plenty of alcohol during their visits, they rarely notice when I swipe a jumbo shrimp… or an entire filet mignon. Plus, it’s always fun to knock over a bottle of wine that cost thousands of dollars and then dash away to laugh about it.
The harpsichord I’m laying down on in this picture has been played by such luminary musicians as Elton John and Paul McCartney, but neither of them have anywhere near as luscious hair as I do (and I like to think that I improve the tuning of the instrument every time I nap on its strings).
If I have one complaint about spending time in Club 33, it’s the fact that the humans seem to get so annoyed when I try to leave my mark on the “historic” setting. Personally, I think I’m increasing the value of the curtains by scratching them to shreds, and that I’m leaving a special treat for a member by coughing up a hairball on the balcony. Alas, the sticks-in-the-mud who yell and try to shoo me away rarely see it that way.

I have been to Disneyland 25+ times. I had no clue there were cats there. Now I want to go back and look for cats! Love it!
I had the privelage of being a guest at club 33 back in 1978, I was only 14, my parents had friends who were members, J. Fountain and his Hollywood script writer wife Charlie. We drove down to Anaheim from Vancouver BC and my dad got in contact with Mr. Fountain and made arrangements to meet at Club 33’s door. The lunch menu didn’t have too many choices that a 14 and 18 yr old( my bro) would like, we both settled on a Monte Cristo sandwhich. Delicious. The restrooms were very luxurious with the gold faucets!
